Japan: Lawmakers Suggests Digital Currency to Counter China’s Digital Yuan

Japanese parliament is evolving a proposal for a Japanese National Digital Currency. One lawmaker said the proposal is an attempt to counter China’s soon-to-be-released digital Yuan. The parliamentary vice-minister for foreign affairs Norihiro Nakayama explained, the first step would be to investigate the idea of issuing a digital Yuan. China is moving headed for issuing digital yuan, so we’d like to plan dealings to counter such attempts.”
