IOTA made a big step in process to become the first permissionless and scalable DLT technology by removing the centralized coordinator from its main net. It has developed ‘Coordicide’ the updated IOTA protocol which will secure the network and prevent double spend. Dr. Serguei Popov, co-founder of IOTA said, “It is both exciting and humbling to have achieved our current level of progress in such a short space of time,”
A partnership has been made between Avery Dennison (a manufacturing firm) and a distributed ledger for the Internet of Things, IOTA (MIOTA) and it will tested by ALYX (a luxury brand). The senior director of sustainability and compliance at Avery Dennison, Debbie Shakespeare have explained, “This is a watershed moment for improving brand transparency and trust.”
Jaguar Land Rover, Britain’s biggest vehicle manufacturer, is testing programme that will enable drivers of its autos to acquire the IOTA cryptocurrency as a reward for sharing information. The organization is creating what it calls “smart wallet” innovation to be introduced in its autos. This would compensate Jaguar vehicle drivers with IOTA coins for actions such as enabling their vehicles to automatically report useful data, such as traffic congestion or potholes to navigation providers.
An announcement has been made by IOTA Foundation regarding the Smart City Hackathon Contest which is sponsored by French global automobile manufacturer Groupe Renault. During the contest, participants will be competing to use new technologies to provide a solution for inter-city problems submitted by corporate partners and utilizing the distributed ledger technology (DLT).
The Denmark based electricity and natural gas transmission system operator, Energinet has entered into a partnership with IOTA Foundation to test distributed ledger technology (DLT) in the Internet of Things (IoT) and energy market domains. They will be creating new products and services in the green energy system centered on using IoT devices with IOTA blockchain in back.

The IOTA Foundation has collaborated with Ledger aimed at the integration of IOTA tokens to the Ledger hardware wallet. The co-founder and CEO at Ledger, Eric Larcheveque stated, “Providing the highest level of security and quality is a major focus at both Ledger and IOTA. We are thrilled to welcome IOTA onto the Ledger platform.”
The TWO, a waste management startup, has revealed the integration of IOTA Tangle. The platform would bring the decentralized waste collection to the blockchain. The platform would adopt NFC technology. The Project Leader, Hamoun Karami stated, “We have successfully connected to the Tangle… with our sensors, we are able to tell when a bin has been changed.”
The eToro trading network had added IOTA to its platform. The other digital assets supported by the platform include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, XRP, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic, Dash, Stellar, EOS, ADA, and NEO. The cryptocurrency is to be added to its Crypto CopyFund. The co-founder and CEO of eToro stated, “IOTA aims to be the ‘ledger of everything.’
Sirin Labs planned to integrate Ethereum blockchain to its phone called ‘Finney.’ The company has chosen Ethereum blockchain over the IOTA’s distributed ledger technology as disclosed in the whitepaper. The chief marketing officer stated, “At launch, we are going to use the Ethereum blockchain. The Finney Phone will work through complete nodes that are hosted on Sirin Labs.”
